The Dip Cafe in Hollingbury Place is a well-loved local spot for breakfast and casual daytime meals in Brighton. It carries an approachable, family-style atmosphere that reflects its history as a community gathering place rather than a trendy coffee shop. The vibe here is relaxed but lively, especially around lunchtime on Fridays when it tends to fill with regulars who appreciate freshly cooked food served in generous portions.

Visitors can expect a straightforward menu focused on quality ingredients, with many opting for breakfast or sandwiches made to order. Some products, like the bacon and eggs, are organic, which appeals to those looking for a bit more care in their breakfast choices. The team behind the counter are often family members working side by side, which contributes a genuine warmth to the service—an experience felt by both locals and visitors familiar with Brighton’s café scene.

The Dip Cafe serves well beyond just a sit-down meal, with a good number of customers using it for takeout. This makes it a practical choice for folks in the neighborhood who want a fresh, hearty breakfast or light lunch without fuss. The atmosphere steers clear of pretension and caters to those who enjoy a steady, unhurried pace—often catching up with friends or grabbing a mid-morning tea at the moment they walk in.

While it may not have outdoor seating or the aesthetic polish of newer places in Brighton, its consistency in food quality and friendly, attentive service makes it a frequent stop for locals, including students and professionals. The early to midday hours during the week are a reliable time to visit if you want the full experience of a community cafe where you’ll be recognized and the tea gets poured by the time you find a seat.

More than just a cafe. . . We go every Friday lunchtime and as the weeks go by, it gets busier. The atmosphere is welcoming in a real old fashioned family way. The food is cooked to order, good portions and you can taste the freshness. I think we're regulars now as my tea is being made as we walk in! Lots of people use it for take out's too. If you're in the area or you're local and haven't yet ventured in, give it a whirl, you won't be disappointed.

I was there in 2019 doing my master degree I had breakfast here just so amazing. I like how the owner families working together serving their customers with great service mind and I can tell they are doing it with passion and by heart . I'll definitely be back to visit this place again.

This is one of the best café in Brighton. They specialised in freshly cook breakfasts and sandwiches with some of the products like bacon and egg being organic. We go there twice a week with friends and love the friendly and polite service. I will definitely recommend it to other people.

Really good food with lovely service and value for money. Would recommend to anyone one I know for omelette & chips served with a smile. Outside seating back (children friendly) and front. Ideal half way spot from Asda superstore to Brighton
